My favorite summer smoothie!

A strawberry banana smoothie will always be my favorite smoothie. However, I like to sneak in a few extra vegetables into this classic smoothie to give me a few more vitamins and minerals. Did you know that you can add zucchini to a smoothie and it barely alters the taste?! It adds a little bit of thickness to your smoothie which is always a nice touch! The same goes with carrots! Carrots will add some sweetness to it, but nothing like fruit. Zucchini and Carrots are always on my shopping list. I add about half of a zucchini to my smoothies (or a whole one if I really need it!). I use to only use baby carrots. I would toss a handful into my smoothie and call it a day. Now, I use regular carrots (only reason I changed was because the store was out of baby carrots once and I needed to get my carrot fix! They are also a little cheaper than baby carrots). These 2 ingredients now give me 3 extra smoothie ideas: S/B/Z/C, S/B/Z, and S/B/C. They do taste slightly different, but are all delicious! Give it a try! And if you are trying to get your kids to eat more vegetables, this is a great way to ‘sneak’ them in to a treat!

My Usual Recipe:

  • 1 Banana
  • Handful of Strawberries (it is usually about 100-120 g of strawberries)
  • 1/2 Zucchini
  • 2 big carrots
  • Ice
  • Extras: Vanilla Protein Powder or Collagen Powder
